Fishing
In the river
The Meuse region has many French category 1 and 2 watercourses. In the Pays d’Étain, the Orne flows to the East.
This watercourse belongs to category 2 and is on private land. The fishing area extends over the Orne – Longeau – Madine basin.
In the second category, still fishing, with live and dead baits, can catch whitefish, gudgeon, perch and pike.

At Le Perroi Pond
Le Perroi Pond is in Herméville, 8 km (5 miles) from Étain. Spread over 30 hectares (75 acres), it offers a special carnivore trail: lures, flies and “no kill” boat fishing.
Classed as a Sensitive Natural Area, it has an educational path that showcases its bird observatory and exploring by boat.

Walking & cycling activities in the Pays d’Étain
Near the town of Étain, the Tilly Woods offer many leisure activities over more than 300 hectares (750 acres).
This includes 3 walking trails:
- A 1.5 km (1 mile) botanical path that lets you discover a variety of plant species;
- A 3.5 km (2 mile) fitness path
- A 6 km (4 mile) circuit that lets you discover traces of the German army from the First World War.
The Tilly Woods also offer two mountain bike routes of 7.6 and 3.5 km (4.7 and 2.2 miles)
